The situation :
After Brexit, France and the UK signed an agreement about fishing in the Channel islands (Jersey and Guernesey). French fishermen can fish beside the two islands, but they must give 25% of their fish to the England. It's a victory for French people but a defeat for English people.
However, the United Kingdom added new conditions at the agreement Post-Brexit: now, fisherman need an authorisation from this country to fish near the Anglo-Norman islands. French fishermen blame the United Kingdom: it doesn't respect the commercial agreement. Among others things, they blame particularly the slowness of the authority to give the licence they need.
The consequences :
To protest to the news conditions, French ships blocked the port of Saint-Hélier, the capital of Jersey, in the south of the island. In response, Boris Johnson, the prime minister of England, deployed two military boats, “as a precaution” he said. After, France sent two patrol boats “for the security of the navigation and the backup of human life in the sea.” according to a spokesperson for maritime prefecture.
At the end of the day, all boats were back to the port, but there are still some tensions between the two countries!
