Chtulu is a monstrous cosmic entity invented by an American writer by the name of HOWARD PHILIPS LOVECRAFT in The Call of Chtulu published in the pulp magazine Weird

Tales in 1828. It is a gigantic extraterrestrial creature sleeping for millennia in the city of R'lyeh sunken under the waves of the Pacific Ocean, Cthulhu is worshipped as a god by misguided humans and aquatic beings who have worshipped him for ages through antediluvian sculptures. These reproduce his vaguely humanoid form completed with a cuttlefish head, octopus tentacles and wings similar to those of a dragon several writers designate "the myth of Chtulu" the set of literary pastiches that are inspired by the fictional universe of Lovecraft.it appeared cultural references to the creature through literature, role playing games and video games.
